Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended 3D feature is way cool!

Been testing out this new 3D feature in Photoshop CS3 Extended and I can tell you now that it’s amazing.
It’s basically like having a fully fledged 3D app built inside of photoshop. You can apply textures in real time and see the results, the tools change inside of photoshop to pan, zoom etc like lightwave or maya or any other program that you may use.

These features work on both PC and mac which is great for cross platform computability which is not always possible with other 3D working environments.

Adobe have just announced that the ‘design premium’ and ‘web premium’ versions of their Creative Suite 3 are now available for purchase.

Naturally MediaRoots is already hard at work producing training for these titles so watch out for the upcoming weeks as we push these products for launch.

Hottest business startup? - it’s facebook!

According to recent research, the hottest startup on the market at the moment by a long way is facebook. The graph shows other favourites of myself such as Last.fm, MediaFire - not to be confused with MediaRoots Training! and iStockPhoto.

Though I don’t see how SecondLife and Meebo can be ranked the same, but not include Digg on the graph at all!

Check it out here:

Google buy DoubleClick

Google has just purchased ad-service DoubleClick for a deal worth $3.1 Billion. Eclipsing the deal Google did to buy Youtube for an estimated $1.6Billion, this could single a new wave or purchasing companies, which is not currently a something Google is known for.

The deal will allow google to gain new contacts in the online advertising business and also give google access to DoubleClick’s recently developed system for buying and selling adverts which works in a fashion similar to the Nasdaq stock exchange.

The deal is expected to conclude at the end of this year, with the price paid being questioned by some who claimed that the move was purely tactical in order to avoid the company falling into rival Microsoft’s hands.

Justin.TV still going strong

I must admit, I haven’t had much time to watch it, but technically advanced Justin TV is still going strong almost a month after it’s initial launch.

A real-life version of ED-TV, the show uses advanced web technology to follow the life of Justin live 24-7. Using a wireless camera attached to his head, he is able to walk around and broadcast video live, outputted using Adobe Flash Player 9.

Likely built using Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver, the site seems reasonably cool as well. He has managed to avoid prank calls to the emergency services and raids on his apartment, so I am interested to see how long he can keep it up.

Censorship on blogs demanded by British minister

The Guardian reports that Alan Johnson - The British Education secretary is demanding that sites such as YouTube filter content showing students bullying other students or teachers. Whilst the idea sounds interesting, I feel that this would compromise the world of free speech that we have on the web, how could you judge not to take down other videos which features just plan violence or racism.

Microsoft Word 2007 tutorial site

There are a limited number of tutorial sites available for Microsoft Word 2007.
One site that I’ve found is this Microsoft Word 07 site.
It seems to have a large number of tutorials available for the new Word and looks to be an interesting read.
Check it out if you get time!

Adobe After Effects CS3 BETA coming 16th April

News on the horizon is that Adobe are releasing BETA versions of Adobe After Effects CS3 as well as Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 on the 16th April. Why they would release Betas 2 weeks before the final launch - I do not know, I certainly wont be downloading them, will wait for the real thing instead.

No news on the launch date still, but assume it will be the 30th April.

Macromedia Director MX2004

Right, so many people are unsure of the future for Director, having been omitted from all the other Adobe products to benefit from the CS3 makeover, it looks like this could be the end.

However, despite products such as Adobe After Effects CS3 looking so appealing, we are looking for people who specialise in Macromedia Director as we have a few projects we need work on, so if this sounds good to you, please get in touch.
