ITV1 : Tycoon

What a shambles of a TV program this is. I am a big fan of all business related shows, but this one is just really poor. I love the Apprentice, Dragon’s Den etc. But with this show getting a primetime slot, you’d expect it to be good.

As it seems, it’s now been dropped from it’s primetime 9PM position due to poor ratings.

It tries to copy the apprentice too much with classical music and abstract shots of London, but copies it poorly.

The scenes where Peter Jones says ok lets speak on the Pier in 10 minutes have no dramatic effect and are utterly pointless as the position is really bad for filming! Much in comparison to the boardroom scenes in the apprentice, on the pier the people can barely see due to the light and there is the sound of wind whilst trying to record.

2/5 stars, especially low for having it rescheduled.

Fraser Continues to build up SuperJam Blog

Fraser recently posted an update on his SuperJam blog. I must say that it is very interesting seeing this young entrepreneur develop and I’m sure that he’ll continue to grow in his success throughout the future. Everyone keep their eyes open! I am certainly watching and anticipating. I think I need to learn some of his tips myself.

Google purchases FeedBurner

Google and FeedBurner have just released press releases stating that Google have purchased the firm for an undisclosed sum of money.

This purchase will likely end up tying in with Google Reader and now means that Google have the ability to not only control the reception of RSS and Atom feeds, but also influence the distribution of such feeds.

This is another clever acquisition from Google and it will be interesting to see if the sum paid will be revealed.

New Indian Internet Tutor Service coming to Britain

It has been announced that new training service TutorVista has just expanded to England, Scotland and Wales after proving a success in America.

They recently broke into the UK and are hoping that the upcoming A-Level and GCSE exams will provide them with a host of new customers.

I signed up to the service to check it out but was disappointed to find that they didn’t cover the topic of computing or have a tutor available for A2 ICT, which was a bit surprising seeing as this is a very technologically focused service!

Overall, I was disappointed, but then again, I haven’t actually managed to try out the system properly, it costs £50 a month if you want to sign up!

Fantastic new redesign to the Guardian Unlimited site

The Guardian is my newspaper of choice for staying up to date with business, technology and media issues. Their website has a very good level of writing content.

As described today in their blog post:
http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/news/archives/2007/05/10/guardian_unlimited_the_new_look_explained.html

The Guardian have worked on redesigning their front page and I presume that this will role out across the rest of the site.

I regard the redesign of the main page highly, it is a very well presented, minimalist design, very British and not too over the top.
The design clearly presents all of the extensive content presented by The Guardian.

The redesign of The Guardian’s website follows the recent complete site redesign of The Times website, though I possibly prefer the design of The Times, The Guardian seems to present too many topics and pictures on the main page and it seems a bit overwhelming, at least The Times keep the featured content to a limited and controlled amount that can be easily taken in.

Hottest business startup? - it’s facebook!

According to recent research, the hottest startup on the market at the moment by a long way is facebook. The graph shows other favourites of myself such as Last.fm, MediaFire - not to be confused with MediaRoots Training! and iStockPhoto.

Though I don’t see how SecondLife and Meebo can be ranked the same, but not include Digg on the graph at all!

Check it out here:
